I was all "yes we can" in 08 just like everybody but look what Obama has to go against! He can't MAKE the repukes in the house go along with ANYTHING. Do you see that? So the more agitated the Tea Party gets the more emboldened the GOP gets to just drag their heels and do NOTHING. And the reality is, NOTHING is precisely what the rethugs want Washington to do. I'm not even attacking them with that statement - it's their freaking ideology. So if Obama holds his ground nothing gets passed = GOP wins. If Obama sells his soul in a compromise the thugs get everything they want = GOP wins.
You see how this fucking sucks? Unfortunately it's not Democratic defeatism but rather Democratic Realism
