So much for The Weekly Standard and "Youth Vote Shifts Right"

Last week, TWS looked at a recent Rock The Vote poll and announced Republicans suddenly had a real chance to capture the youth vote; that younger voters were trending to the right. But that's not the what the poll really showed.

Since then, we've seen new polling data from Gallup, which further undercut TWS's claim :

Registered voters aged 18 to 29 were more likely in September than in August to favor the Democratic candidate in their congressional district, resulting in the widest generational gaps so far this year in the vote for Congress.

According to the September data, young registered voters favored the Democrats by 55% to 36% over the Republicans -- a 19-percentage-point margin. That was up from 9 points in August, and contrasts with a 12-point advantage for the Republicans in September among seniors (52% to 40%).
