And not illegal. Actually this rebounds to the favor of Sestak and Barack Obama. Toomey is already trying to portray Sestak as a pawn of the White House -- which is the game plan he had prepared for Specter and now Toomey's got nothing to run on. If this kind of job offer is bad, read some history on LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, and Bush II! Obama's enemies are really stretching on this one. Check out why George W. Bush was appointed CIA Director by Ford when Colby was talking too much to the Church Committee. Apparently when Specter decided to switch parties, he was given an assurance by the White House and by Ed Rendell that he wouldn't have a primary challenge. Sestak decided to challenge and the White House offered him the job of Secretary of the Navy, for which Sestak was eminently qualified as a retired Admiral, but Sestak turned it down and that was that. The White House offered him a job, they didn't threaten him! There was no wrongdoing by anyone. And it all worked out beautifully for everyone except Arlen Specter, which suits me fine. And Toomey is left holding the bag and crying.

This is as unfair a complaint as the hue and cry and "outrage" about Blumenthal. Do you think the media gave a crap that George W. Bush wrote in his 2000 campaign book that he had checked the box on his National Guard form - "Available to Serve in Vietnam" -- yet when the form was finally released he had NOT checked that box? Nobody in the media said a word. The selective persecution of Democrats is pretty amazing to me. And they question Blumenthal getting into the Marine Reserves in 1970 when there was a draft lottery in place in 1969 -- I remember it well. By 1970 there wasn't such a demand to enlist in the Marine Corps, regular or reserves. While GWB actually did get Daddy's help to stay out of the draft in 1968 from Ben Barnes, the Lt. Gov. of Texas, when Daddy was a U.S. Congressman, the Future Worst President in History was AWOL for the last year and a half of his "service" flying obsolete aircraft, from which he was grounded from flying because he was a drunk. So give me a break on Blumenthal. Oh, and they act like he's a bad person for getting five deferrments when Cheney got five deferrments too, and I don't remember The Dickster serving in any capacity ever.
