14. Bigtree, tell me something. Who is in charge in Washington right now?
The executive branch in this country has almost unlimited powers--the courts and public opinion have seen to that. And the Obama administration, by failing to indict Bush (basically saying that a commander in chief can do no wrong) and by continuing policies of warrantless wiretapping and execution of folks by administrative decree (which violate the Constitution) seems to be using those expanded executive powers to the fullest. So, why is not he using those powers to help folks? Why are his hands tied when it comes to whether or not people get to eat, but he is in charge when it comes to whether or not to kill an American citizen abroad? Why is he obligated to follow the law on Dont Ask Dont Tell, but his FBI can search your computer without a warrant?

Obama either needs to to declare once and for all that expanded executive powers are illegal---which means Bush goes on trial, the wiretaps stop, no more folks get killed without a trial---or he needs to acknowledge that the economy is his responsibility now. Not his fault, but his responsibility. And he can not delegate that responsibility. He has a bunch of administrative agencies like Health and Human Services that could actually do some good---if he ran those offices the way he runs the DOJ.

Imagine if LBJ had said "I'm gonna appoint a bipartisan commission to look into health insurance for seniors and votes for Blacks. Let's see what Ronald Reagan and Strom Thurman want to do on these issues and follow their lead."
