I'll have to remember to E-mail that message to my niece who lives in England. I don't know whether she and her family really do much to "observe" it or not -- she's American, her husband is English.

It's also the day to have Parkin, which is basically a type of gingerbread made with a fair amount of oatmeal. It's dark, sweet, chewy, and spicy, kind of like a gingerbread granola bar. I made some last year just to try it, and it was pretty good. A traditional food for GFD in northern England.
