This may be true, but the Democratic party of today sure as shit don't look a whole lot like the one from even as recently as 10-15 years ago, to say nothing of the one from 25-40 years ago.

The fact is that 80-90% of the republican party have become neocon fascists while maybe 10-20% tops are actual conservatives, meanwhile roughly 80% of elected democrats have become more or less republicans, with maybe 10-20% being actual liberals with liberal beliefs and policies.

So yeah, the republican party has changed and shifted drastically rightward. But with it went a good chunk of the democratic party as well.
