Whether or not I'm remotely interested in 'defending its use', that wasn't the point of my original comment, which you're welcome to go back and read. Merely, it was an observation that nearly identical clones of these threads have played themselves out, as far back as 2006. If anything was implied, it was perhaps a meditation on the usefulness or lack thereof.

Here's an idea, just to toss it out there: Why don't you write the rude pundit directly, and order him to cease using words you don't like? Maybe that would be more effective.
