27. Nuremberg, 1945: "We were only following orders."
My father was a foot soldier in WWII. I am not a knee-jerk pacifist. But we need to take a look at the eagerness of certain people to engage in war. In 1941, after Pearl Harbor, a lot of young men were eager to "kill Japs." In that situation, we might be able to see the reasons for that. Now, we are dealing with immature young men who are joking around about killing innocent people in an illegal and undeclared war. That they so relished what they were doing in that recently released video is obvious.

Those who were eager to kill Japs and Jerries in WWII faced the strong likelihood that they, too, could be killed. In this recent event, those killing the people on the ground below faced very little change of personal danger.
