18. Can we add a few?
Edited on Wed Mar-31-10 04:25 AM by Sancho
6.) MOST HEALTH PROFESSIONALS THINK THAT THE SYSTEM IS SCREWED UP AND HATE INSURANCE COMPANIES MORE THAN "WE" DO. For profit hospitals and crazy permissions are the frustration of almost everyone in the health professions. A public option and even single payer is "secretly" supported by lots of practicing health care folks, and everyone is sick and tired of being laughed at by a world that realized in the last century how our health care is stupid and ugly. At least medicare for all is a minimum.

7.) LIKEWISE, BAD SCHOOLS AND TEACHERS ARE SENSATIONAL HEADLINES, BUT MOST OF THE EDUCATION SYSTEM WOULD BE FINE IF THE DAMN POLITICIANS WOULD QUIT WITH THE EXPENSIVE TESTING PROGRAMS, NUTTY TEXTBOOK REVISIONS, AND PRIVATE CONTRACTS TO STEAL PUBLIC MONEY. Compared to 50 years ago, most schools systems have tried to keep up with technology, hire good teachers, and get a handle on discipline problems. Florida spent over $125,000,000 developing a test and over $40,000,000 a year to administer it - which is like spending $20,000 on an air gauge to determine that you have a flat tire. It's simply stupid and the same waste is repeated in every state. Giving public money to private companies to "fix" schools is just another get rich scheme cooked up by the already wealthy - they really don't care if your kid gets educated or not. Social problems are difficult to solve, and making everyone take a high-stakes test, firing all the teachers, and handing out textbooks that substitute John Calvin for Thomas Jefferson won't fix anything.

8.) TRUE JUSTICE WOULD PUNISH THE BAD GUYS! Bankers and CEO's who steal should go to jail, those who torture should be put on trial, and contractors who rip off our government deserve rendition and public whipping in foreign countries even if it is unconstitutional.

9.) IT IS TIME TO STOP BEING THE ARMS FACTORY AND BULLY FOR THE WHOLE WORLD. UNNECESSARY WARS, TRILLIONS SPENT ON BOMBS AND BULLETS, AND KILLING PEOPLE FOR PROFIT HAS TO STOP! My life began during a war with Korea, then I was A1 in the Vietnam draft, then we decided to jump into Iran-Contra, Iraq, and Afghanistan. These are all made up wars of convenience and profit - and all that money and technology could have solved many energy problems instead of murdering the innocent and creating more enemies. All the stupid militias made of crazies with guns are a product of glorifying war, too.

10.) FINALLY, I SEE LOTS OF HARD-WORKING IMMIGRANTS WHO WANT A LIFE. After 20 years in Florida, it makes no sense to me why there isn't a practical way for someone to legally become a tax-paying citizen. If there are quotas or rules or some hoops to jump through that is fine. Going for decades as an undocumented alien and living outside the system for millions is insane. The only reason we have this mess is that rich business owners like it when they can hire cheap people (virtual slaves) while keeping them from voting, organizing, or becoming educated. I don't care how they do it, but we're way past Ellis Island now. I don't want to hear another thing except exactly what it takes to become a voting citizen.

Thanks, Atticus I enjoyed the ranting...
