and the way it could and should be handled is to remove sports from the schools and, instead, have sports done via clubs for that purpose after school hours.

this would place the focus in the schools on academics.

I agree with you that the priorities of too many are skewed. In my city, in order to deal with the fact that states have to balance their budgets, all of the school librarians were laid off except for two - one at each high school. no elementary school librarians. no middle school librarians.

books are more important for a child's education than friday night football.
