There's marketing spin and then there's pathetic desperation. A comparable scenario would be if it were discovered that energy drinks actually cause narcoleptic episodes, and the Red Bull spocks-person went on tv and said "we never claimed our product was linked to a state of wakefulness."

I sure wish Al Gore would hurry up and invent the Internet so we would be able, with just a few mouse clicks, have access to the incredible amount of material out there -- the "historical record" I believe it's called -- proving this lie was an important aspect of how they sold the war to the American public.
