54. Ii is not always possible fro many reasons
First the hospital has to have space and then you have to have enough money to travel and stay there.
You are not eligible for medicare if you have insurance or assets they deem unnecessary (I know this from personal experience).
In early 1991 my son was diagnosed with Dermatomyositis. It took almost a year to get an correct diagnoses and by the time my HMO referred him to CHLA he was very ill.
Since CHLA was out of network, I had to pay 20% of the first admission (three month stay over 200th) not to mention the constant fight with my insurance company who wanted him released and sent home.
My son finally qualified for medicare in 2001 after a ten year battle with my insurance company, losing my job, marriage gone, bankruptcy and finally selling my home.
We are luckier than the family in this post because my son survived. He is severally disabled because of constant delays and denials but he survived.

I have been advocating for single payer since late 1991 have sent letters, made phone calls to four administrations now and am tired of the excuses.
Attended many rallies and demonstrations that m$m never covers.
I'm sick of what I see as the intentional dismissal of the majorities needs and wants for profits for the few.
