that I know personally. A few more in extended family and friends of friends. All five lost their jobs and lost their houses. All had good credit ratings and good jobs right up until everything went to hell. None of them lived lavish lifestyles. They just wanted to own their own home. After all, they've been told for years that renting was stupid. "You could be paying a mortgage for only a little more than you pay in rent, and at the end of it you own your home." None of their banks were willing to work with them at all. I wouldn't bet on any of them voting for Democrats (or at all) again, either.
