The contingency plan for losing a Senator was to panic.

That's my take-away from this week.

Apparently our genius leadership had no plan in place if, say, Byrd were to take ill and become completely incapacitated. Or heaven forbid, to have something around in case, you know, that safe seat in MA were to fall.

What kind of responsible leadership doesn't have a backup plan?
