I was a student at GMU, living in Annandale then, too, right off the Beltway near Fairfax Hospital. We couldn't get out the front door because of the drifts. We were in a 3 story TH (walk out basement). We had to shovel out through the back yard, around the end of the complex, into the cul-de-sac, up the front walk. There was no place to put the shoveled snow. I'm only 5'5". so I was more or less tunneling 'cause the snow was over my head. I felt like a mole!
