and ruin the entire families' lives for what appears to be simply ignorance (or what they were taught themselves). The daughter's allergy certainly wasn't known to them and no doubt at least one of them had endured the same punishment and thought it worked.
In fact, by this standard, couldn't any parent who gave their child a peanut product, not knowing the child was allergic be equally guilty?
I'm not defending forcing a child to eat, soap, tobacco or anything else for that matter but am wondering what good placing the parents in jail and quite probably ruining their chances for descent employment for a learned (albeit bad), parenting practice serves.
