38. Cap and Trade would make one of Sarah's key consituencies, Big Oil, uncompetitive
The Energy Sector is heavily dependent on Government regulation. The Bush administration via Cheney's Energy Task Force realigned the regulations to favor the oil companies. Obama is removing those subsidies and re-regulating the industry.

The whole debate over oil vs green tech is analagous to the days of the industrial revolution when we were changing our energy sources from wood to coal and oil. There were plenty of people who said that we have all these forests and lots of wood, so why should we switch to these new fangled technologies.

Now, the same sort of people want us to sit on energy sources and produce products that the rest of the world DOESN'T WANT. The rest of the world is going green in a big way.

China is moving into green tech in a huge way. They see it as a strategic advantage. They are investing 2x as much money in green tech as we are. Sarah's future is not a particularly bright one that is being articulated by a not particularly bright person.
