110. There are many, many people who could pay Medicare premiums
who cannot currently afford exorbitant private premiums. The middle class has been bearing the brunt of opportunistic profiteering for years. We are not destitute (yet); we can afford some premiums. Have you priced insurance on the open market? My husband and I are self-employed and pay $1,000/mo. for standard, run-of-the-mill coverage. Were insurance available at reasonable cost, legions of people who are not currently insured would be.

"Additionally, presently, there is a lot of care expenses written off by physicians, surgeons and some hospitals. That'll be billed under single payer."

Wrong. Please do your homework before presenting statements as fact. There are so many lies and misconceptions floating around about single payer we really don't need to pile on.

When health care providers agree to accept assignment under Medicare they write off the excess. They ARE NOT BILLED TO THE PATIENT.

The advantage of Medicare is the power it has to negotiate lower costs. Larger pool = more power. This is precisely why the Billionaire's Club is scared shitless of it.
