They were not arrested for public display of affection, but rather asked to leave for that. You may be projecting a lesbian discrimination slant to the request to leave, but the girls stories differ from that of the officials, so one shouldn't automatically choose sides. Especially since one was arrested for "trespassing, resisting arrest and assault on a peace officer".

Would you be coming so strongly to their defense if it was two teenage guys breaking decorum in some way and being asked to leave, only to find that they sneaked back in through another entrance, and got belligerent when confronted by police?
