We drove from Stewart's Point north of Jenner to Santa Monica down the coast highway. Long before that I was in the air force and drove from Seattle to an area close to Sacramento before going over there. There's only a small section of the PCH I haven't covered, but Oregon was beautiful although that road with the sheer drop to the cliffs was pretty narly. Tillamook was very fine. So is their cheese!
