49. This will flabbergast you (maybe)
In December our bill was: $446.17

We live in San Diego and our gas and electric is combined. We had to use our heater for about 8 days when the inside of our house was at around 62º to 65º - Our house is heated with gas. It is 2 stories and 2,300 sf - the design is bad for energy conservation because we have a big room with ceilings that have to be 35 feet high with giant windows... That room sucks the heat right up to the ceiling and the upstairs of the house becomes flaming hot while our downstairs is like a meat locker.

I have the thermostat set at 68º and we all wear warm clothes and use blankets in our den - I hate using the heat because I have never liked how it makes me feel but my kids teeth were chattering.

It had to be the damned christmas lights - SDG&E is ripping us off and we have no choice - in our neighborhood, we have a HOA and we are not "allowed" to use solar panels. This practice should be ILLEGAL. -

San Diego has outrageous cost for EVERYTHING. If you are thinking of moving here because of our weather and all the other bells and whistles (It is fantastic, really it is - today it is 78º) just factor in the cost of what you spend now and add on about 30% ---
