44. The aristocracy has been doing this for thousands of years. Why would we be surprised?
History is replete with assassinations of enemies of the powerful and the nobility. Many noble families maintained their power by suppressing any form of dissent or any inkling of insurrection. Sometimes it was done openly and violently, but often it was done quietly--a "hunting accident", a sudden illness ( brought on by poison), an unfortunate fall, the list goes on.

One would think that we peasants would get the message and just STFU, but democracies have a strange habit of making lowly citizens think they ought to have a say in how they are governed.

The men and women who have spoken up against this regime and the military-industrial complex and died were brave souls and heroes of America.

It has long puzzled me that some of the harshest critics are allowed to live and speak out, while others--usually the truly dangerous expert witnesses--die sudden, unexpected, often mysterious deaths. But I've come to the conclusion that as long as the powers-that-be allow some vocal dissenters to live they can label them as kooks, nuts, conspiracy theorists, or eccentrics, and the rest of us will allow ourselves to be lead blindly along.

Thank you Time for change and all the others who have posted on this subject and who have provided links to other American heroes who have died in the line of duty attempting to defend our democracy.
