49. If it wasn't for my wife we would have lost everything.
Then we find out this week her company is cutting it's workforce 25% across the board, with best case remaining employees taking a 5% cut in pay and losing their 401k match. We find out in January. Welcome to the republican legacy.

For now we have a roof over our heads, power, and internet. That's it. And she works 12 hour days to get it. There is no safety net. It does take literal years to make a SS claim, usually resulting in multiple denials. Nevermind what the team of doctors says.

Right now I am in the middle of having 10 injections a week for 4 or 5 weeks to alliviate some of the pain without narcotics. Doesn't matter to them. So far I have never even met with anyone from their office, and I already been rejected. What a joke.

I'm used to being poor now, but I can't stand to watch it happen to my kids. I worked to damn hard before I got sick for this to happen to them. They deserve more than their basic needs met, yet they keep a stiff upper lip about it.

I wish I hadn't stuck my savings into a small business right before the shit hit the fan. At least we would have some savings. Right now we are a month a way from having to stay with family for the first time since I was 16.

Isn't that irony that what I thought was building a solid future and something to pass on, turned into the reason we are where we are?

Ahh well, here is to hoping next year is better. Starting something up is hard with no money being borrowed.
