1. How do you think Republicans get such loyalty from their big donors?
I assure you, if you wiretapped the phones of the big Republican donors, the big Republican bundlers, you would find worse extortion -- expressed in prep school language, and therefore maybe more subtle, but just as bad. I am not bothered that Blagojevich is being indicted. I am troubled that this system is rampant at all levels of government. It is the bread and butter of far too many politicians. Mostly loud-mouth, unpleasant, lower class Democrats get caught. They express themselves more directly.

The kind of blackmail that persuaded our government to bail out Goldman Sachs but no Lehman Brothers goes unnoticed. It's a blip on the screen. I hope that the Obama Justice Department reviews all wiretaps to be sure they are justified. I suspect that wiretaps have been placed on a disproportionate number of Democratic politicians.

I also question whether the real aim of the investigation was to catch Obama. And I wonder whether his communications were being tapped.
