If he were a little less working class, I suspect his shenanigans would have been a LOT more subtle, and played by the rules the country club set accepts.

Had he been a little less "I want this and this and this," and a little more, "you know Rahmmie, these days you go to DC, you come out and next thing, you're making millions and millions from the contacts you make. So whoever gets this appointment, they get opportunities. I just want to make sure I'm appointing and handing those opportunities to the right person," he'd have been taken care of, quietly, and Fitz would still be piecing together a case.
