Ask yourself this question: What has really changed in the world?

The same countries, with the same citizens, with the same needs, are all still there. We need stuff from them, and they need stuff from us. This demand, and the rise of supply to meet it, goes on. It doesn't stop.

What has happened is the worldwide financial system has developed a virus which has spread to the far reaches of the globe. The virus has killed confidence in the world economy. When the virus is contained, when confidence returns, the system will get well.

Obama brings a real chance to weather this. He has the confidence of the world, as well as the confidence of Americans. When enough people have confidence in the economy, it will right itself. It runs on confidence, not oil, not currency, not loans, or Fed basis points.
