50. Those two dogs are being trained to be my next service dogs
They both are young and need to go to places for exposures, to socialize with people, children and other animals. I lost my beloved hearing/signal dog named Shane last December because her vet gave her a deadly combination of two drugs called dexamethasone and Rimadyl when I took her in for shoulder limp. She started to bleed internally, liver/kidney shut down, died two days later at ER animal hospital where I rushed her for blood transfusion. She was only 6. She was my lifeline and knew over 100 words in sign language. Truly broke my heart, struggled with so much grief. She was my soulmate. I am hearing impaired (totally deaf actually) for your info.

Then I adopted 6 month old male Rocky from a rescue group, a doberman mix, but he failed one thing...to stay close without leash. So I got a female beauceron named Shania at 10 weeks old. She's 10 months old now and is doing very well. I don't have a heart to rehome Rocky because he's so sweet and gentle. He already knows sign language, he comes to me, sits & put his paws on my lap to let me know he has to go outside for bathroom break. He is staying on as a companion for me and Shania. Rocky and Shania get along very well. It is a very hard work to train them to be assistance dogs and very expensive, too. When gas prices were high, I was unable to afford to take them to places.

It was much easier to train my first hearing/signal dog, Shane, as I had plenty of help when I lived in South Florida and the Miami Herald where I worked helped to raise/train her, was well loved there. I took an early retirement from job and moved to Arkansas to look after Mom. In this area, damn hard to get around, training dogs for service dogs so I am doing my best.

Next time, don't judge. :hi: P.S. I finally filed a compliant against the vet here a week ago. Board of Veterinary agreed via videophone/relay interpreter that the vet qualified for grossly negligence after asking me questions before sending me papers for me to fill out. I learned that this same vet have had 5 complaints against him so I hope my case will finish him off. Next time I check a vet's background. I didn't know because I moved from Florida and also I didn't check up drugs over the internet which was my mistake.
