62. Then there's the matter of the non-fundie types, who are just as dangerous....
because of their ignorance and follower mentality. (Yes, I realize that describes Republicans in general...:) ).

For example, my sister isn't a wingnut -- wouldn't know a bible quote if it bit her in the ass, but considers herself a "good Christian." She's Catholic, btw.

However, she is a racist and a bigot.

She isn't someone who believes in the Rapture and she isn't an evangelical -- she keeps religion and political discussions on the down low -- yet she likes Palin because "she wants to put God back into this country."

Of course, she means the Christian God.

She sends the neverending emails about liberals wanting to take prayer out of schools, and how this is the downfall of this country; she surely hates "the gays"; and, needless to say, can't stand the idea of Obama being president (the good news is that she doesn't vote).

There are a LOT of those types out there...more than the crazy, overt fundie nutjobs we see at Palin rallies. Yet they can be just as easily led by a Palin and a Falwell, without being aware of how extreme the religious views of Palin et all really are.

We somehow need to educate everyone about how religious extremism -- OF ALL DENOMINATIONS -- is dangerous and how it affects everyone.
