A hyper-partisan, brainless "with us or against us" base of voters fueled by a right-wing media that consistently votes against most of their own self-interests.

I think the idea was to put government in such sorry shape so they could make the case to abandon Social Security and Medicare. We're at least 75% of the way there but I think we can still turn it around.
