Every gaffe, small, large, or imagined (usually ginned up nonsense), by a Democrat brings out a huge slew of right wingers to pounce on the gaffe, or if not a gaffe, to twist and mis-characterize a statement or situation in a way that hurts the Democrats. These right wingers come out in unison, make the same statements in unison, and beat the drum over and over and over until it becomes the "truth" in the minds of much of the public.
Our party, on the other hand, thinks that a positive campaign is best, that attacking the other candidates runs off voters, often says that they "won't dignify 'that' with a response", and is generally chicken.
This person Palin is a total radical right winger with positions that would cripple McCain's campaign if we exposed the public to them. About 70% of the public is adamantly against what she stands for. But our party is afraid to expose her. If the roles were reversed, the moment she was announced as the VP pick, the airwaves would be alive with those of the other party pounding and pounding and pounding home the message to the public that she was dangerous, a radical, a horrible person who is not equipped to hold office (even dog catcher), and on and on and on.
The conventions of four years ago are a perfect example. The pundits said before the Democratic convention "They'd better not go too negative or they will turn off the voters.....". So we had a mealy mouth wimpy convention. Then a couple of weeks later the GOP had their convention and did nothing but attack our candidate with garbage lies, and did so relentlessly, which crippled our chances to win.
It's time to expose her for what she stands for. I'm not saying lie about her. I'm not saying we should distort what she stands for, like they do to us. No, just expose the truth, and she will be seen for what she is: an electric speech reader who knows almost nothing about foreign policy, who is a Pat Robertson right wing radical, who is against abortion even in cases of rape and incest, who would outlaw birth control pills as an abortificant, who fired a librarian in an effort to censor books, who wants to teach conservative Christian ideology in the science classrooms, who abuses power by trying to get her former brother in law fired because of family disputes, and on and on.
But no......we are afraid to attack her with the truth, because if we did so, the GOP automatons would relentlessly frame our honest attacks on her real record as sleazy personal attacks, which would hurt us, and would do so because we are weenies afraid to go hard exposing the truth.
