How ironic. I wrote a diary yesterday that spent quite a while on the Rec. List (thank you, Kossacks) about my experience of extreme illegality in applying for a job within the Justice Department.

Yesterday, coincidentally, Attorney General Michael Mukasey told the American Bar Association that job applicants who were rejected by the Justice Department because of improper political considerations will be urged to apply for open positions. I will do that today as a test case because I don't take Mukasey at his word. Please let me know of any openings you see that fit my resume.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I would like to return to public service, which I intended to be my lifelong career before I was forced from the Justice Department for blowing the whistle in the case of "American Taliban" John Walker Lindh. Basically, I advised not to interrogate him without his counsel, which advice was ignored and then "disappeared" in contravention of a federal court order. After I recovered the advice, which concluded that the FBI had committed an ethics violation, and it was still not turned over to the court, I provided it to the media.

Pulitzer Prize winning investigative journalist Eric Lichtblau recently revealed that Alberto Gonzales, as White House counsel, had decided not to turn any documents over to Lindh's defense lawyers. I tried to stop this blatant and illegal discovery abuse and was forced from the Department, put under criminal investigation, referred to the state bars in which I am licensed and put on the "no-fly" list.

A few months before the whole Lindh episode, I also applied for a counsel position in the Office of Deputy Attorney General. That office sent my application to the White House for vetting and I was asked to provide my voter registration card, which is clearly illegal.

I think that my working at the Justice Department would be a first-step in rehabilitating the department to repair the extreme damage that has been done to the Department over the past seven years. Thank you for your consideration, and please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions.
