58. Mount Rainier Maryland. It's the "new" Takoma Park.

Not that there's anything wrong with the old Takoma Park
but it's suffering from Berkely syndrome at the moment.

Hopefully the housing crash will fix that.

The good news is neither town has any chain stores in city limits.

Mount Rainier is the only place I've been in the East Coast where you
used to see Rasta-guys smoking ganja at the corner cafe. Out doors.
Across from the police station. Also, they have a city-owned bike
library, second hand furniture stores, pyramid worship centers.
And it's incredibly cheap to live there.

Reminds me a little of New Orleans, actually. They have levees in
Mount Rainier, and industry. It's a touch south of the Mason Dixon
line. It's more integrated than Takoma Park.

The local microbrew is Anarchy Ale.
