78. Oh yourself

Having once worked with Keith (a long time ago; still proud of it) and GE's NBC (not so proud of it) I can tell you with certainty that his bosses aren't as interested in what he says as how many people watch him.

He fell backwards into "Countdown" after MSNBC's experiment with Phil Dohahue bombed. Under the circumstances, and knowing what blowhards the suits at GE are, I think he's done magnificently. He's carried a moderate-to-left message on a network owned by bottom-line obsessed (anyone remember "Neutron" Jack Welch? Under him, GE took over companies. The buildings stood, but all the people disappeared. I know. I was there. poof!) and war-profiteering parasites, so under the circumstances, I'd say Keith is doing quite nicely.

Yes, quite nicely. For himself, for (God save me for saying this) for GE.... and (most importantly) for US.

edit for grammar.
