173. Sometimes an SUV is a necessary evil
After our road ate the oil pan on our Accord while we were driving something like a mile and a half an hour, we got a used - very used, 198,000 miles - Toyota Land Cruiser. It's big, it's comfortable, it gets terrible mileage (18 mpg on the highway) but it's high enough to master the boulders and gulleys on the road, and it has four-wheel drive, which we have to have in the winter. We drive the Subaru whenever possible and I'm pretty much able to limit driving the Toyota into town to once a week. Have to drive it every so often or the mice will make themselves too comfortable in the engine. I'd drive a Prius if it could manage the road, but it can't. So - sometimes the behemoths are a necessary evil.
