34. Two reasons people in Wisconsin trust Feingold
First is- he really is brilliant. When we don't like the way he votes on something (not often) he explains it and he's usually got a very good reason. There's always a number of issues that most of us don't know that much about and we can trust that he does. He really does do the work. I hadn't been in Wisconsin long when 911 happened and he voted against the Patriot Act- because he actually read it.

Second is- the stand on campaign finance reform. Nobody buys him. He is living in the real world. He holds listening sessions all over the state- and conservative Christians come up to him and tell him that they think abortion should be illegal and they're being persecuted. When Feingold fundraises, people give him money because they trust him. There are Republicans who voted for Bush and Feingold in 2004, I kid you not. He's ethical, and people know it. You can't fake that.
