Every single candidate is doing basically what Howard Dean did in the last election, it's just not being reported because it isn't new. Paul is taking it to the next level a bit and IMO it's mostly with gimmicks. But if his methods have indeed proven effective, you will see candidates in 2012 doing what Paul did this time.

And again, just because many of Paul's supporters were otherwise ideologically neutral doesn't mean the left can win them over. As I stated, left wing rhetoric invokes an entirely different set of emotions than right wing rhetoric. It is clear that right wing rhetoric has resonated with these people, which makes it even less likely that left wing rhetoric will.

If left wing populism is going to take off, the rhetoric needs to be modified or a new group of supporters must be found that will buy into it.
