Another day, a final debate, Iowa - have you selected a candidate? And where are Kucinich and Gravel?
CNN reports that Clinton has lost her lead in Iowa and its now a dead heat between Obama, Clinton, and Edwards: "In a CNN/WMUR poll conducted by the University of New Hampshire and released Wednesday, Clinton and Obama are in a statistical dead heat in New Hampshire, which will hold the nation's first primary on January 8. Clinton's 1-point lead over Obama, 31 percent to 30 percent, is within the poll's margin of error of 5 percentage points. Edwards came in third at 16 percent. And with recent polls in Iowa showing a three-way tie between Clinton, Obama and Edwards, even Clinton's supporters recognize that the Democratic presidential contest is a jump ball."
Remember, John Kerry was in 6th place at this point in the last Democratic primary race. Anything can happen.
And it's getting ugly. "The tension between the Clinton and Obama camps picked up a notch Wednesday when Clinton's New Hampshire co-chairman Bill Shaheen went for the jugular in an interview with a Washington Post reporter, arguing that Obama's previous drug use would be a boon for Republicans." CNN reports, quoting Shaheen as saying: 'The Republicans are not going to give up without a fight ... and one of the things they're certainly going to jump on is his drug use. It'll be, 'When was the last time? Did you ever give drugs to anyone? Did you sell them to anyone?' There are so many openings for Republican dirty tricks. It's hard to overcome.'"
Ouch . . . and, meow.
Maybe the question Democratic voters ought to be asking is which candidate can defeat Mike Huckabee, who is steadily climbing in the polls.
Also on the program tonight, further proof of Bush's utter inhumanity in his veto of the S-CHIP bill that would have extended health care coverage to thousands of poor kids. Now, if the bill would've covered frozen embryo "snowflakes," well . . . that would be a different story.
We'll explore the madness tonight.
