62. I understand what you are saying, as well.
I, too, have had things stolen from me and I understand that it makes you angry. However, this thief was also a human being. That's not me being soft on thieves, or trying to paint him in a positive light - it's just the truth of the situation. By virtue of being human, then I believe that grants certain rights that cannot be negotiated away through actions or beliefs. He was committing a crime, and he should of been caught and punished for those crimes - but that does not take away this person's basic humanity. This thief may of inadvertently put themselves into a situation that caused their death, and had they decided not to break into cars or run from the police then maybe they would still be alive - but that, in my mind, doesn't mean that they deserve to be eaten alive by an animal.

On hatred: not moralizing here, but here's something I try to keep in mind - hatred never damages the intended target, only the owner.
