7. Petreus Didn't Close The Deal...Balls In Your Court, Nancy
You can almost feel the "conventional wisdom" winds shift over the past couple weeks.

It began with asshat's bogus photo-op in "Eye-rack"...done in such a ham-handed way it showed weakness not strength. People didn't fall all over themselves at the sight of his assholiness in the "beast of the belly"...instead he was ridiculed. Poll numbers didn't move.

The game now is being lost with Petreus poor performances that have underwhelmed the pundits. Tweety "meltdown" last night over Petreus punting on Warner's question is the most telling change in these winds. The deal with "the base" hasn't been closed...and probably has divided Repugnicans more than they're letting on. The orchestrated nature of this dog and pony show was so transparent by a regime that is so tunnel-visioned into its little universe that it doesn't realize or care how they're no longer winning the PR game...even among their own.

While this regime never says it has a Plan A or B...Plan A was to try to bullshit this war for profit into "popularity" among Repugnicans...that appears to be failing...so now it's Plan B...to put some new lipstick on this pig and pretend it's some kind of "victory".

The game all along has been to give Repugnican incumbents cover through next year's primaries...allow them to waive their flags and not have to make hard choices about Iraq...make the Democrats angst agout it. We'll see if that strategy works.
