4. Let's Go To The Request Lines
In the Spring of '74 I was rockin' the 4am-7am shift at my college station and I'd have a regular caller always request something from this new guy from New Jersey...it was Kity's Back from The Wild, The Innoncent & The E Street Shuffle. At first I kinda brushed her off cause I'd never heard of the guy and it wasn't in the station's "playlist", but she was both persistant and sexy sounding...and, how could I say no? She then said, "just you wait, this guy's gonna take the country by storm". I didn't need to be sold...the first time I heard Kity's Back and then Rosalita and Growing Up, I saw sold on this mysterious guy from Asubury Park.

There are some voices of reason and inspiration that Rock music have provided. Springsteen has constantly spoken to a sense of fairness and honesty that has grown stronger over the years. His performances in the America Stands Up concerts in '04 were inspiring...and so has his committment to the Democratic Party.

I'm hoping there's another concert series next year that brings musicians of all generations together.

Yep...Russert IS unworthy of meeting The Boss. He lost that right when he sold out to Jack Welch and GE.
