Journalist Zaki Chehab details the rise of Hamas in the Palestinian terrorities and describes how the group was able to win Palestinian elections in 2006. In his book, Mr. Chehab argues that Hamas' extensive social welfare network is just as important to Palestinians as is the group's message of armed struggled against Israel.

A Palestinian refugee, Zaki Chehab grew up in UN refugee camps. He is currently political editor of both the London-based Al-Hayat newspaper and the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation. Mr. Chehab has previously worked for the Guardian newspaper, CNN and the BBC and is the author of "Inside the Resistance: The Iraqi Insurgency and the Future of the Middle East."
