38. Oh, I know. The son of a friend of mine was in Iraq for 18 months.
It absolutely tore her up. Fortunately, she had a lot of people to lean on. I know that some families don't, or feel that they don't, and that is so wrong. I cannot imagine how horrible it would be to feel that you have to deal with having a loved one in a war zone all by yourself.

You know, one of the biggest things that is wrong about this war is that We The People have not been asked to do anything except go shopping. I'm not saying that there aren't people who DON'T do something, like volunteer at a VA hospital, be a shoulder for a military spouse, protest the war, etc. But what is missing is a President who asks for true sacrifice, true giving, from the citizens of this country. I believe absolutely that the Iraq War was and is the greatest political blunder in the history of this country, but even with that, if Bush could order the invasion, than he could also ask for something more substantial than SHOPPING on the part of American citizens. That man is fucked up beyond anything I've ever seen.
