At any rate, I don't believe Bush will be able to sustain his position much longer without an outright revolt from his own party. I refuse to buy into this fashionable portrayal of Democrats as mere appeasers. Not all of us are swayed by the strident criticisms from a wing of our party which hasn't yet managed any actionable coalition to actually effect their more strident proposals. The majority in our party remain resolved against the permanent presence in Iraq you describe. Further, our majority of Democrats is in a far better position to effect anything close to the changes you say you want than any splinter organization or party.

Voters sent these legislators to resolve their differences, not fight endlessly while our troops wallow. Many will welcome troops coming home as a result of these politicians bending to some compromise. I know I will.
