Just dig down to where the temperatures and pressures are enormous and tap UNLIMITED ENERGY! What could possibly go wrong?!

Doomsday, that's what.

As we've been hearing, if they can't stop BP's Gulf oil leak - and it's possible they won't be able to given the enormous pressures down there - the oil could poison the whole planet's oceans, killing off most of the plant life that supplies us with oxygen and asphyxiating the whole planet. This is the problem with digging so deep where the temperatures and pressures test the limits of our technology and where we are playing Russian roulette.
