Stand back! This may get ugly---

When people engage in phony "polite" conversation while straining to avoid mentioning some obvious, important and usually unpleasant fact, it is said that they are "ignoring the elephant in the room".

I gotta tell you, people, if that was literally true, you could hardly catch a glimpse of most pundits and political commentators on TV lately due to the HERD of pachiderms crowding the set! In trying to avoid insulting or offending some God-fearing sure enough red-blooded American patriot---i.e., your average Republican---some very obvious but inconvenient facts are being studiously ignored.

I will now mention just a few:

1.) SARAH PALIN IS A HAPLESS TWIT. She is not a "plain-spoken intellectual". She is of, perhaps, average intelligence, but is spectacularly unread, incurious and uneducated. She is not "clever", she is manipulative and she is laughing all the way to the bank as she makes money off people who cannot afford to get sick but shell out $30 for a copy of her self-serving ghost-written book.
Further, any politician who compliments her intelligence or competency or accomplishments is either a liar or a damned fool and, hopefully, confessing their disqualification for any public office.
Finally, any "journalist" who fails to question anyone who opines contrary to the above is unworthy of being called a journalist. Bill Moyers is a journalist. Neil Cavuto is a whore.

2.) THE MAJORITY OF THE TEABAGGERS ARE FRIGHTENED IGNORAMUSES BEING ENCOURAGED BY RACISTS AND PSYCHOPATHS TO RAISE HELL IN PUBLIC.
That's it in a nutshell. To credit them with a valid political point of view, as a group, is pandering of the worst sort. Sure, there is some genuine populist outrage out there---that WE should be addressing---but, to treat these lame-ass frauds as a possible viable political party is just nuts---and a waste of resources.

3.) THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE TRUE MISANTHROPES, THOSE LIKELY TO ACTUALLY HURT SOMEONE WITH WHOM THEY DISAGREE, ARE RIGHT WING TRUE BELIEVERS, NOT LEFTIES. To pretend otherwise---or to ALLOW others to so pretend---is both disingenuous and dangerous. As Keith Olberman just said, "Where are the left-wing militias?". Even if wingnuts can point to a few incidents where a Republican was threatened or assaulted, everyone KNOWS there have been ten or more Democrats threatened for every stray bullet that barely penetrated a window in a building in which Eric Cantor rented an office. This is HORSESHIT, people!

4.) CORPORATIONS RUN THIS COUNTRY AND MOST OF THE REST OF THE WORLD. Our victories are instances where Big Business miscalculated and something egalitarian and unprofitable resulted. We may characterize the GOP as the "party of big business", but that distinction is simply a matter of degree. We have our share of bought-and-paid-for corporate shills and the stench of tainted contributions fouls the air of every party gathering. Unavoidably, most of our "news" is provided by these corporations.

5.) THERE ARE MORE OF "US" THAN THAN "THEM". If the lower and middle classes and all others who value social justice, integrity and tolerance could be sufficiently educated as to their true self-interest, conservatism would be be relegated to that much ballyhooed "ash bin of history."

That will do for now. My blood pressure is nearing normal again. Just needed to brush back some of the stupidity that is peddled without challenge or objection on OUR airwaves daily.
