or possibly (but not likely) a legitimate panhandler. If I recall correctly the "mugger" demanded $20. She had $6 which the "mugger" gladly accepted.


Now, from my personal experience muggers don't generally request specific sums - they take your entire purse or wallet by force or intimidation. They also don't generally hang out within striking distance of well-lit glitzy hotel entrances.

Also, in the 13 years I've lived in DC I can't think of any panhandler I've come across that asks for anything more than a couple of bucks. One would have to be be pretty ballsy to ask for $20.

My guess is someone marked Mika as a "patsy" and asked if she had $20 for "such and such", Mika freaked out and give him the $6 and the "mugger" happily took what she was willing to part with.
