Granted, I live in the middle of the city, and I walk to work. I take the bus or the subway everywhere else, almost every day. I occasionally rent a car for out-of-town trips, but my monthly transportion bill is about $50 (including taxis); no car insurance, no car payment, no gas, no parking fees, no inspection stickers, no maintenance, no tickets. I realize I'm lucky, but I'm trying to do my part. In the beginning, I did it because of the expense; now I do it by choice. I walk about 2-3 miles every day. I wish every city was as great as Boston for the non-driving public.
