The side of the equation no one is discussing is that even if auto companies are able to keep the lines running, and produce reliable high mpg vehicles, the demand for cars has plummeted. Dealer inventories are overloaded. Even the vaunted Prius's (Prii?) are stacking up on the loading docks.
