(and Joe, i don't want or mean to be talking about you here without your knowledge or permission, so correct me if i'm out of line).

Accepting help to some is a sign of weakness, or giving up, especially to some who have spent time depending only on their own capabilities against all odds. And giving up is not an option in matters of survival.

Developing trust depends on viewing another as yourself, and having the knowledge that nothing inside your mind, your conscioussness, or your heart would be alien, unacceptable or disregarded by another. When you are able to help others feel as such, they trust you. When you are able to understand it, you help your self.
