Leni: The Life And Work Of Leni Riefenstahl
Author: Steven Bach

Sunday, July 1, at 12:30 AM

Steven Bach explores the life of German filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl, who is best known for her documentary films "Triumph of the Will" and "Olympia," produced during the Nazi regime. Riefenstahl was commonly known as "Hitler's filmmaker" and her work was used for propaganda purposes. But much to the disbelief of her critics, Leni Riefenstahl swore she knew nothing of the Holocaust during her time working with the Nazis. Steven Bach discusses his book with Gabriel Sanders of The Forward at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City.

Steven Bach teaches film studies at Bennington College and Columbia University. He is the author of two previously published biographies, "Marlene Dietrich: Life and Legend" and "Dazzler: The Life and Times of Moss Hart." He was formerly the head of production at United Artists. Gabriel Sanders is the associate editor of The Forward.
